These pa ndau designs and storycloths show traditional activities, folklore and religious beliefs of the indigenous people of Vietnam, Burma, Laos and Thailand. The pan ndau is a complex form of textile art, utilizing applique, reverse applique, cross-stiching and embroidery. The designs stitched into the fabric are equally complex, displaying traditional activities, folklore and religious beliefs. Among the larger pan ndau are "story cloths," which tell ancient myths and recent events. Examples of these, two, are rendered magnificently, along with their captions in English.
This book is also very good and has been used for young children's coloring project.
