130 Minutues
by Hmongland and Yuepheng Xiong
Narrated in Hmong, this 135 minute long video documentary is about a civil war in northern Thailand from 1968 to 1987. The Hmong were directly involved and instrumental in this civil war. They fought on both sides, and this documentary is told from their perspectives. Military leaders of both sides were interviewed, and this is the first time their stories are being recorded and told. In this war, 90% of Hmong Thai in the provinces of Loei, Phitsanoulok and Phetchabun joined the Communist Thai fighting against the Thai government. The main reason the Hmong sided with the Communists was because of decades of Thai oppression and discrimination against the Hmong.
This is the newest documentary by Yuepheng Xiong since 2005. Check it out. You shall like it.
