This is a book of oral histories. The author had a series of interviews with the boys in his Scout Troop to preserve their incredible tales of courage and survival. This book documents their stories of Hmong life in Laos during the Vietnam War era, escape to Thailand, arrival in the United States as refugees, and adjustment to American society. The camaraderie shared by the Hmong Scouts of Troop 100 provided some relief from the terrifying memories of life in wartorn Laos. It also helped the boys overcome prejudice and confusing experiences encountered in the United States.
