ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Saryna Kong was born in Minnesota but raised in Milwaukee with her father until she turned 10 and moved back to Minnesota to live with her mother. Due to her moving around and attending multiple schools during her elementary years, it was challenging for her to make friends easily. Instead, she focused on art, video games, and writing. An outstanding Hmong student, Saryna is working on creating video games and writing.
See Yee Yang is a Hmong teacher at Washington Technology Magnet School in Saint Paul. He holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies with a minor in Education from Carleton College and a master’s degree in Educational Design and Technology from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. He is a native Hmong speaker and has been teaching Hmong as a world language in high school for the last five years; along with developing the curriculum for and teaching Asian American Studies and Hmong American Studies. See Yee has a passion for helping students to dream and believe beyond what they can see by providing experiences, exposure to diverse perspectives, and opportunities to explore beyond the classroom.
